About Marella Explorer
Marella Explorer is a Century-class cruise ship that has sailed under several names since entering service in December 1996. Built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, at a cost of $320 million, she originally operated as Galaxy for Celebrity Cruises before becoming Celebrity Galaxy, then Mein Schiff and Mein Schiff 1 under TUI Cruises, and finally Marella Explorer when she joined Marella Cruises in 2018. The ship measures 259.70 metres in length with a gross tonnage of 76,998 GT and can accommodate 1,924 passengers across 10 passenger-accessible decks. Her twin propeller propulsion system is powered by four MAN B&W diesel engines generating a combined 29,250kW. With a crew of 909, Marella Explorer offers a well-staffed cruise experience.
