Built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, at a cost of $320 million, she originally operated as Galaxy for Celebrity Cruises before becoming Celebrity Galaxy, then Mein Schiff and Mein Schiff 1 under TUI Cruises, and finally Marella Explorer when she joined Marella Cruises in 2018. Her twin propeller propulsion system is powered by four MAN B&W diesel engines generating a combined 29,250kW. With a crew of 909, Marella Explorer offers a well-staffed cruise experience. Currently registered in Valletta, Malta, she represents a significant vessel in Marella Cruises' fleet, bringing over two decades of cruising heritage to British holidaymakers.
