MS Iona is P&O Cruises' flagship Excellence-class cruise ship, built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany and delivered in October 2020. At a cost of £730 million, this impressive vessel measures 344 metres in length with a gross tonnage of 184,089, making her one of the largest ships in the P&O fleet. The ship can accommodate up to 6,685 passengers across 19 decks, supported by a crew of 1,762. Iona began her maiden voyage in August 2021 and represents a significant investment in modern cruise technology and passenger amenities. What makes Iona particularly special is her status as P&O's most advanced ship, featuring cutting-edge design and facilities that cater to British cruise passengers. The vessel operates at a service speed of 20 knots and was christened by Dame Irene Hays in May 2021, marking a new era for P&O Cruises' fleet expansion.
