About Borealis

Borealis is a cruise ship operated by Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, having entered service with the line in July 2021. Originally built as Rotterdam by Fincantieri in Trieste, Italy, she was launched in December 1996 and completed in 1997, serving as co-flagship for Holland America Line for 22 years before joining Fred. Olsen's fleet. The ship measures 237.7 metres in length with a gross tonnage of 61,849 GT, accommodating 1,404 passengers with a crew of 600. Capable of cruising at 25 knots, Borealis represents a significant addition to Fred. Olsen's fleet as their largest vessel. Originally christened by Princess Margriet of the Netherlands in Fort Lauderdale in December 1997, the ship was the sixth Holland America vessel to bear the Rotterdam name, paying homage to both the Dutch city and the famous 1959 SS Rotterdam.
